Adding Rental Equipment

Equipment is the inventory that you rent.  This article will describe how to add equipment to Rental Vision.

Before adding equipment, you need to decide whether this is adding to an existing rental item or if it is a completely new rental item.

Adding to an Existing Rental Item

If what you are adding is another unit of an existing item, then these instructions apply.  This would mean that what you are adding is equivalent in terms of feature and functionality and can be substituted for an existing serial or non-serial item.  For example, if you were adding 4 additional tables of the same size and shape or adding a serial rental item like a Bobcat with the same model as an existing Bobcat, then you should add to the existing item.  If this is a completely new rental item such as a different size or shape in the example of the table or a larger capacity Bobcat, then see the section on Adding a New Rental Item below.

From the Home screen, select Equipment Center and then select Maintenance from the Equipment group.

Enter the existing Rental Equipment item that you want to add to. If this is a serial item, then you can select any existing unit from the existing serial rental item.

Select the Purchases/Disposals tab.

Select the Purchase button.

If this is a non-serial item, enter the Quantity that is being added in the quantity box. All of the the other fields are optional.

If this is a serial item, enter the Unit number of the additional item. All of the other fields are optional.

Adding a New Rental Item

From the Home screen, select Equipment Center and then select Maintenance from the Equipment group.

Select the New button at the bottom of the screen.

Select Serial or Non-serial from the Select Equipment Type form.

Enter all of the fields that are required. This screen has multiple tabs so make sure that you have reviewed the information on each tab. Items that have an ‘R’ next to them are required. All other items are optional.

Create a New Rental Item will mean that it will be assigned a new Equipment Number and Common Name. See Rental Equipment Planning for more information.
